Geneviève Schneeberger

ceramist

Geneviève Schneeberger creates original
ceramique wall plaques.

She has devised a method for transfering images
or personal photos into a unique ceramic art form.

The process of transfering an image onto the clay
that has a pre-prepared texture, followed by the firing
of the glazes which produce a cracked finish
that creates a relief.
This process which is some what controlled but,
at the same time uncontrolled, allows for the uniqueness
of each work and the variation of expression
of the meaning of each piece.

The ceramique workshop is in the center
of the ancient village of Rue / Fribourg.

Other ceramic artworks on exhibit are oil lamps
with a variety of unique textures
that represent the "earthyness" of the clay medium.
The sensitive values and colors of glazes
applied to the textures bring a contempory feel
to a very ancient functional object.
The theme of "the fragment" , or a sense of structure
is to be discovered in the majority of the artists' work.
